THE MAN BEHIND THE 360 *

Brent Cooper is a husband, father, and career firefighter and follower of Jesus whose story has been shaped by faith, failure, loss, leadership, and more than two decades in the fire service.

The 360 Within was written from real life, not from having everything figured out, but from learning to examine what’s within before trying to lead what’s around you.

The titles and roles matter, but they don’t tell the whole story. As a husband and father first, a firefighter by calling, and someone who believes growth requires discipline in every area of life. The lessons behind The 360 Within were shaped at home, in the firehouse, through leadership, competition, failure, loss, and faith.

I never intended to write a book let alone a devotional. It wasn’t on my radar.

For years, I didn’t fully understand what God was doing through the things He had allowed me to walk through. I was learning how to become healthy from the inside out.

Mentally •Physically • Emotionally • Spiritually

It meant learning to invest in myself so I could become the man of God was calling me to be. And I had a lot to work on.

Ownership • Vulnerability • Discipline • Counseling • Nutrition

Getting real about the areas of my life I had ignored, hidden, or tried to carry on my own. Several major life events I cover in the devotional forced me to look inward in ways I never had before.

But even then, I still didn’t see a devotional coming.

Years into the process, while speaking at a leadership conference, God began to reveal something to me: what I had walked through wasn’t just about me. The lessons, failures, rebuilding, growth, and faithfulness of God could be used to help someone else examine their own life, compress times and prayerfully not make the same mistakes I had made.

That’s when The 360 Within was born.

Not from having everything figured out.

But from learning that real leadership begins with willingness to look within and allowing Jesus to do the work there first.
